Allan Fraser Partner, Analysis and Business Development Allan.Fraser@AcuitasMedia.ca Allan Fraser is a cofounder of Acuitas Media Research. Allan pioneered the development of media tracking services for public sector clients, and served as a communications advisor to a succession of federal government administrations for nearly twenty years. He created a wide array of media trend analysis services and techniques, ranging from time-sensitive, rapid response alerts for fast-developing events, through to exhaustive studies of longstanding media coverage patterns on a wide array of social, political and economic issues.
Allan's clients have included: the Privy Council Office (fifteen years); the Prime Minister's Office (fifteen years, through two separate political regimes); the Canadian Unity Information Office; the Federal-Provincial Relations Office; the Canada-U.S. Trade Negotiations Office; the Canadian Radio-Television Commission, the Solicitor General Office's Security Intelligence Transition Group (during the creation of CSIS); and Emergency Preparedness Canada, to name a few.
Allan received a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University, where he focused on the role and impact of news media on Canadian society
Doug Kells Partner, Analysis and Research Design Doug.Kells@AcuitasMedia.ca Doug Kells is a cofounder of Acuitas Media Research. Doug is an experienced, independent media researcher with a background in public opinion research and voting intention — along with more than thirteen years of experience gained in researching print and broadcast news content. He has provided strategic media analysis for senior executives with some of Canada's largest corporations and government organizations, including: Bell Canada; the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care; the Ontario Securities Commission; the Ontario Realty Corporation; Pfizer Canada; Ontario Power Generation; and the Hospital for Sick Children, among many others.
Doug has an extensive background in statistical analysis and he excels with a variety of computer software packages, allowing for the timely presentation of statistical and qualitative findings. He is also a strong writer with an ability to explain the content and significance of statistical results to non-technical end users.
Doug has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science and Canadian Studies from Carleton University.
Alex Irwin Partner, Analysis and Business Development Alex.Irwin@AcuitasMedia.ca Alex Irwin is a cofounder of Acuitas Media Research. With over fourteen years as a media analyst/communications consultant to high-profile federal and provincial government clients, considerable time as the marketing and communications manager of an international software development firm and several years as the owner/operator of an award-winning adventure tourism company, Alex brings a wealth of communications and marketing expertise to the Acuitas Media team.
Over the years, Alex has produced media analysis reports for a wide range of clients, including: The Prime Minister's Office, The Privy Council Office, The Trade Negotiations Office, External Affairs, The Department of Finance, The Federal-Provincial Relations Office, The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, The Department of National Defence, The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Médecins Sans Frontières. He has also designed, assembled and managed national media tracking systems and teams.
Alex received his early education in Atlantic Canada and Ontario. His undergraduate studies were in sociology (BA Honours programme, Carleton University, Ottawa) and his graduate studies were in business administration (MBA programme, Concordia University, Montreal).
